Travelling for work alone I was looking for a cost effective, clean hotel where I felt safe and found it at the Telstar. The rooms are lovely, clean and comfortable. The welcome is warm and staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is lovely - best scrambled egg I've had at any hotel!

I stayed for one night at the Telstar, as I was working in the area. I was made very welcome on my arrival and I was given a map of the city, with suggested restaurants. My room was spotless and warm and I was very comfortable. Breakfast was extremely plentiful with fresh fruit on offer.I would happily stay here again.

There was a warm, friendly welcome as I checked into the Telstar hotel and a cheery tour to my room. Which was clean, comfortable and well provided. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom small but well appointed and sparkling. There were some lovely touches - as well as the standard tea and instant coffee, there was ground coffee and a cafetiere. My room had a balcony with chairs - not used on a chilly evening but would be smashing on a summer day.The hotel has plenty of character - a courtyard with water features and ferns, interesting decor points. I would recommend the Telstar unreservedly as an excellent place to stay in Exeter and I will certainly be booking there when I am next in the city.

I have stayed at Telstar Hotel a number of times, usually in Rooms 12 or this time, 6. The hook on the back of the door was good to hang a towel from. Room quite small otherwise and nowhere to put them except draped over a chair or the radiator. Room 6 is a bit chilly near to the window. I understand it's a 'listed' and characterful building so it's probably not possible to 'double glaze' or whatever would make this room a bit more draught proof. Breakfast very good as usual. Looking forward to my next stay!

The Telstar is a little gem of a B&B find!I needed a B&B for a few nights whilst visiting my student daughter in Exeter - found the Telstar via ExpediaBen and Amy and their staff are so friendly and welcoming.The room was small but en suite, very clean with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and the lovely touch of a daily replaced glass stoppered bottle of filtered water,and was ideal for a solo traveller.They said my daughter could join me for breakfast for a small fee which was wonderful! Delicious breakfast - a full English with whatever you wanted,with other options available buffet style;cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurts, fruit juice, filter coffee, tea, toast which set us up well for the day. Lovely bright dining room and comfy lounge adjacent to it, with a rustic feel all round.The Telstar is ideally located a 10 min walk from St David's Station and also walking distance from the city centre. Would highly recommend the Telstar and hope to stay there again soon!

I spent one night here last week with my family. My single room was fine. The guest house has a cosy, homely feel, with quirky and interesting art on the walls. Good value for money. Cooked breakfast was tasty, and I also had some fruit salad with yoghurt, a glass of orange juice, and coffee.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Telstar. The place was very clean and the staff were friendly and always happy to help. We will definitely go back.

This is a wonderful hotel worth twice the price. I had an executive single which was perfectly equipped and very cosy. Immaculate ensuite bathroom, lots of pillows, comfortable bed and nice view. The public areas are beautiful and tea and coffee freely available. The room came with full breakfast cooked to order which was delicious. Staff are very friendly and the Alice in Wonderland decor is delightful. The location is right by the train station and a few minutes walk to the old town center. So happy to have found this one!

The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was close by. Very clean. There were many guests and some went into the lounge while waiting for a table to be available forbreakfast. There was parking at the back of the guest house. Advised to arrive early to get a space.

We had room 15 and despite it was situated on the street side of the building, it was a quet room, clean as well, and yes, a bit small. I had chosen this Guest House for their breakfast and it came true! Excellent! I will recommand this Guest House to everyone who is not always bent on tremendous luxery, but likes a comfortable residence, nearby railway station and city centre.

I have stayed at this Hotel several times, i always enjoy my stay as the rooms are very comfortable. Lots of breakfast choices plus tea and coffee, fruit juice, fresh fruit salad, cereals etc or cooked breakfast. Lovely friendly staff and very close to shops and railway, buses etc

I spent 4 nights there. Everything was very clean. Even the bathroom I was sharing with two other rooms was always clean.However my issue was that I was always very cold in my room. I had two heaters and three blankets and that was barely enough.Other thank that, everything was great: the breakfast has a large choice and the staff is lovely.I would recommend!

A perfect place to stay in Exeter- within walking distance of the university and town but with parking too.The room was beautifully warm and very comfortable. Little personal touches (eg : offer of fresh milk for in-room hot drinks) were much appreciated. We would fully recommend the Telstar.

I stayed one night I found the room clean and comfortable. Plenty of tea and coffee making facilities.Unfortunately I can't comment on the breakfast I don't normally partake of breakfast.Overall my stay was good I found the staff pleasant and helpful I would recommend this hotel.

Was a lovely b&b with a warm cosy feel. Ideally positioned between Exeter St David Station and the main town. About 10 mins away from either 👏We had room 1 which was ground floor and it fulfilled all our needs. Breakfast was fantastic with plenty of choices.I would certainly recommend to anyone. It is the second time we have stayed at the Telstar Hotel with our teenage daughter. We like the Telstar Hotel as it’s very rustic and cosy. We particularly enjoy the decor and wooden floors. Home from home. We were offered coffee as soon as we arrived to drop off our cases before check in. Friendly smiles and heating full on and lovely on a very cold frosty day. Our room was cosy and we all had a good sleep and hot shower and were ready for a lovely day in Exeter. Nice walking distance too if we enjoy a nice 10 minute walk and get your circulation going. No double glazing but we love a tiny bit of ventilation as it’s more healthy. You can actually open the windows and that was great in the summer. Breakfast looked tasty but we intermittent fast!🥰 We’ve been to more ‘posh’ hotels but totally without character and clinical and don’t like it. We will definitely come back again. We have stayed here a few times (in fact, every time we come up to Exeter!) and not had a disappointing stay yet! Rooms are always clean, cosy and comfortable, there’s always a warm welcome on arrival and the owners are wonderful throughout and the breakfast is always great. Parking is an added bonus, especially as this was our first time staying with the little one. We have recommended the Telstar to family and friends and they have all had a wonderful stay too. This cozy B&B is well situated for easy walking access to both city center and the university.During my stay, the staff were responsive and friendly, my room (with en suite bathroom) was cozy and clean, and the breakfast was quick and tasty.I'm especially grateful for the assistance and reassurance in securing a taxi to take me to a remote bus stop for my departure during a rail strike.

I booked a night here after several sleepless nights at a nearby hotel. The staff were lovely, they heloed me try and get a refund after I accidentally booked the wrong night. The breakfast waa delicious, bright rooms in an old house. Would stay again.

I was initially disappointed as having specified that I wanted assurance of no human hair found anywhere in the room, often a feature of even the nicest , cleanedt hotels, as much as I hate to mention it there there was one staring at me on the shower door. I found this off putting and also found some small hairs in the washbasin. To the credit of the gentleman who told me he was " Sam" when I went back to the desk with my bag packed having already paid and simply asked if I could change rooms he stated that the only one he had was a twin. He didn't ask and I didn't say why as I did not wish to embarrass him. The other feedback which other customers have shared is that the picture of the double bed room with single occupancy which was proudly displayed next to my booking choice looked nothing like the room I was initially put in which had a single bed stuck with a double bed meant for at least a family of 3. I was paying more £78 for a double bed with single occupancy but not to have yet another bed in the room . As I say the pictures look better than the rooms and in my case I was given a different room to what I was shown.Thus place is most certainly not 4 stars and that is not to be unkind but just stating facts as it can have unrealistic expectations in the mind of the traveller which is not in the establishments interest. The room I was given next was fine. I had a comfortable sleep and what I am really thankful to the kitchen staff for is to serve me my favorite eggy bread! Not every hotel will.accommodate Eben such a simple request : they ll just have a robot like response and say one has to choose from the menu. The filter coffee wasn't particularly exciting but some places only have instantthe breakfast staff in particular all 3 ladies were friendly cheerful and accommodating and I said I d be back when they said yes to eggybread and also to porridge. Would I come back? I d like to but my pet peeve is that with a constant turnover housekeeping staff in most hotels are pressed for time. Ofcourse a thoroughly cleaned place can overlook a small thing but for many travellers not just myself staring at even an isolated hair not from their own body can just undo what is meant to be an enjoyable , reassuring and relaxing experience. So if they do take this constructive feedback on board and I can say that even with the room I was moved to the floor tiles whilst difficult to identify stains on could have been just a wee bit cleaner or look cleaner as some tiles just have a stubborn unclean look and my most sincerely meant feedback would be to then just make them look nicer than you d ordinarily need to. Why am I giving them 5 stars...because they have asked for feedback which is always a brave thing to do,they were friendly, they are genuinely 5 minutes away from the station as opposed to the understated distances one sees only to one s detriment (!), they were accommodating as I say the room was changed no questions askedbut mostly because I am from Pakistan and I grew up with having French toast and I find that having lived jEngland 30 years I have to celebrate when someone agrees to put a plate of what they call here " eggs bread" in front of me. Mind you we have sweet French toast in Pakistan so I had to tell the breakfast staff to add sugar to it which they did. It is a good choice of a hotel and I hope they will forgive the honest feedback of shy I wanted to change rooms given that that is a human error but one that travellers like me see more often than not so I have got to a stage that to not see a single hair feels like a feat. Thank you Sam and the friendly ladies at breakfast and I hope you ll get more customers as you are conveniently located and whilst I apologise for not agreeing with a 4 star rating I d definitely say a 3 star with a 5 star rating for a good attitude ( is it true that the record player I was pleases to find in my new room doesn't work as per a customer review who did say it was otherwise a cool touch ;)?), and yeshow did you guess for feeding me FRENCH TOAST. Hurrah!

Lovely hotel, i enjoy staying with the Telstar as the people are lovely, great choices at breakfast, comfortable beds, very near the town centre so easy to walk but also plenty of trains uf you fancy days out. Exeter St Davids Station is only a 5 minute walk from the Hotel.

I stayed here for a second time, for two nights. The Telstar is a fine place to stay. I am a business traveller. The location is great, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The Telstar has a very unique approach, and each room feels bespoke. The ethos of the guest house is warm, creative, individual and welcoming. The Telstar is also very good value. Highly recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay at the Telstar Guest House. As I was arriving late, it was explained to me promptly how I can check in after 10pm and the staff were lovely. The room had everything I needed and the bed was very comfortable.

We had a warm and cosy stay at Telstar guesthouse. The staff was so thoughtfull to make sandwiches -without asking- for us when we had to leave very early for getting to the bus. We liked the guesthouse, the room was good facilitated and will definitely recommend to stay here.

We booked the Telstar and it didn’t disappoint. Our room (14) was comfortable and clean with a view over the courtyard and beyond. We had a nice en-suite shower room. We were pleased to have complimentary drinks and toiletries.The breakfast was lovely with lots of choice and the position of the guest house was very convenient for a gig at The Phoenix.We are back in Exeter in a few weeks and would have stayed here again but they haven’t the room.Recommended

The first thing I noticed was how clean everything was. I stayed in the very small single room with ensuite. This room is very compact but perfectly adequate if you are only requiring to sleep. Every need seemed to be pre-considered in some way which I found impressive. Breakfast was perfect and really good. I may try to stay in a room away from the road next time but would stay again. Would definitely recommend this gem.

My room was described as ‘very small’ - maybe tiny describes it better - but was well-appointed and even had a little balcony. Surprisingly, I wasn’t bothered by the noise from the busy road. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and staff were very friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

Felt nice a safe staying here for a weekend of catching up with friends on my own. Room was nice and clean. I loved my single room with wash basin. Bed very comfortable. Shared toilet and shower lovely and clean. Breakfast was nice too. Parking was a bonus. If your room is facing the road as was mine, it can be a bit noisy with traffic at peak times plus students walking too and fro. But for the value of this little gem of a find, my ear plugs did the trick. Definitely would like to stay again.

Really well positioned for Exeter city centre, St David's train station and the university campus so good all round. Took my dog who was well looked after (given her own bowl of sausage in a spearate dog friendly brakfast area). Very quiet and big thumbs up from me. Also gave me parking behind the hotel

Booked for only one night but would have liked to have been staying longer. We were promptly welcomed in and shown to our room (no 10), which was at the back of the hotel and up a few stairs. We passed through a lovely open air inner courtyard on the way.Our room and en suite bathroom was compact but had everything in it that we needed and it was clean.It wasvery quiet when we stayed and we had a good, comfortable nights sleep. There was a lovely view from the room and an unexpected bonus was a balcony area with two chairs, and a table overlooking thefar reaching view.Unfortunately we didn’t get to make use of this or the dining experience as this was just a quick stopover for us. Have to say the dining room looked really nice though. I would stay again.

Spent 2 nights here on our return from the Scilly Isles to see a play at The Minack Theatre and to visit St Michael's Mount.The accommodation was very clean, our room was incredibly quiet and we had an excellent breakfast. The hosts were polite and friendly. Thankyou.

I spent a week touring from the Telstar and would definitely return if in the area again. It is a pleasant change to stay at an independent local business rather than at a hotel "chain" establishment. The Telstar is convenient for St David's station if you are using public transport with good bus services nearby too. I had a small ensuite single room which was perfect for my needs and serviced regularly. The breakfasts were excellent and most importantly all staff were friendly, engaging and went out of their way to be helpful ..... well done !

This is nearer to the centre of town than it appears on the map, so a great spot for access to everything while being placed on a pleasant lane away from the main street.The hotel room was very clean and comfortable, lots of tea and coffee supplied, and the breakfast was really good.All the staff were sweet and helpful; easy check in and check out.

My son and I stayed at The Telstar in order to visit the city and university. The hotel was well placed for both.They are very well organised. The hotel is larger than I thought which was fine and has a nice lounge/dinning room. The beds were clean and comfy, and the breakfast was good. The shower was hot and had good power to it. Plenty of towels and toiletries.It's obvious that the owners have put a lot of time and effort into The Telstar and care about the guests and neighbours. All much appreciated.The only things that I would say isIt wasn't immediately obvious vious how to get to the car park. But it was dark and raining when we arrived.Also as I don't drink tea/coffee I always appreciate a glass and bottle of water in a room.Minor things!

Stayed here one night on route back home from Exmouth. Single room was small but had all you need:-En suite,TV,Kettle-tea/coffee etc. even a small balcony overlooking the street. Within 5 minutes of St. David's Stn. and 10 minutes from City Centre.Breakfast was excellent with a choice of options. All staff were very welcoming too. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

We found the hotel great we went to watch a band it did exactly what we needed Car parking short walk to our venue & shops clean & comfortable with a great breakfast plenty to choose from , would stay again .

The location is about a 5 mins, or less walk from Exeter St Davids, and then only another 5 mins into the city. I was made to feel welcome and at ease, from the moment I entered The Telstar. I stayed for two nights in the small single bedroom, which I chose because of being on a tight budget. I really didn't expect much, but I thought it was great! Not sure how they fitted everything into the space, but they did and it felt very comfy. Ensuite with a shower cubical. The bedroom had enough shelf and drawer space for me to unpack. There was proper ground coffee and cafetière in the room – which was very much appreciated! Tasty coffee too :) Also, it was a great surprise when I realised I had breakfast included in my deal. Again, very friendly staff in the breakfast room, and a great choice of help-yourself foods, as well as a menu with a good range of cooked breakfasts. I didn't want a cooked breakfast, but I could see lots of people enjoying them. All in all, I had a great stay at The Telstar and would happily book in again.

I was looking for an affordable single room for my one night stay, this was very homely and welcoming. The room was perfect for what I needed and the decor was classic. Will definitely be coming back next time I’m staying in Exeter. :)

The Telstar is full of thoughtful, personal touches and so welcoming too. You can feel the friendly, warm approach of the owners and staff throughout. The various rooms I've stayed in over the years each have individual style but always comfortable and a great night's sleep. Easy access if arriving after hours and a handy car park as well. A great choice if staying in Exeter!

Parking on site is definitely quirky but free and staff are happy to help whenever they can. We are coming back soon with our little dog too.

The room we were given was small but comfortable, and everything was well decorated and clean.Everything you'd expect was provided - I was particularly chuffed to get fresh coffee in the room as well as instant.Sharing a bathroom, which I had thought might be an issue, was no problem at all.Breakfast was very busy, but the food was excellent and plentiful.Would stay again.

We had a problem with the reservation, but he reception quickly and swiftly resolved it. The shared bathroom was neat and clean, although we had preferred a private one, this solution was an excellent value for money. The hotel is located at 10mn walking distance from the city center and offer free parking which is definitely a plus.

My 15 year old daughter and myself stayed at Telstar for 2 nights recently. It is the third time we have stayed as we love it so much! The room was lovely and clean, the bed comfortable and the decor a bit lovely and quirky! Veggie cooked breakfast was fab too! It is about a 15 minute walk into the main shopping centre so ideal for us. Def recommended for a lovely weekend stay...thank you!

My sister and I spent 6 nights here recently while visiting Exeter from the US. We each had a single room and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the breakfasts are delicious, and the location is extremely handy to both the train station and to the town center. We would definitely stay here again, it is a real bargain for the price!

Hotel is perfectly situated for rail travellers on foot to/from Exeter St David's. Single small ensuite room was ideal for a short stay, superb shower, comfy bed. Very good breakfast choice and quality, friendly staff. Telstar will definitely be my preferred choice of accommodation for future stays in Exeter.

A lovely hotel which is in a good location for the Station, The university and also the city centre. They could accommodate for my wife who is Gluten free and ensured she had a good breakfast. The room was nice and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. The staff were exceptionally pleasant making you really feel at home. We were allowed to store our bags on the last day after checkout as we went into town and had a late train departure

The Telstar is a gem of a guest house situated 5 minutes walk from the city centre. If arriving by train its a short walk up St Davids Hill. If arriving by car there is parking at the rear of the guest house. The room was clean and tidy and the double bed was very comfortable. The room wasn't ensuite so this meant sharing a bathroom but that was no problem at all. The full english breakfast was superb and there was a good selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee, juices etc. Plenty to set you up for the day. The staff were very polite and helpful. I can highly recommend The Telstar to anyone wanting a guest house with character and the personal touch. I am glad i chose to stay here and would do so again if visting Exeter another time. My thanks to all the staff for making my stay such a pleasant one.

Where made to feel welcome straight away even though we arrived after 9.30pm. We where given some useful advice on how to get round. Excellent facilities, room was clean and well stocked with teas and coffees. Would highly recommend a stay here.

The Telstar is a lovely B&B close to the rail station and close to downtown. The beds were comfortable, lots of hot water for showering and great breakfast!

My partner & I stayed here for 3 nights from Friday - Monday as we were going to a festival on the Saturday and wanted to make a mini break of our weekend.From the moment we arrived we had a good feeling about the Telstar. We were greeted by people knowledgable about the area, assisted us with on the street parking (we moved to the onsite parking on the second day), and made us feel extremely welcome.For access to Exeter's shops & attractions it is well placed, be aware that Exeter is not flat, not an issue for us though. The rooms are clean, our room was just perfect as a base, bed was comfortable, plenty of tea, coffee etc, great little bathroom & shower, ample storage room for clothes & a case. Not much else you can ask for really!Breakfast was great, plenty of choice, good quality food and sufficient amounts.It's not the Ritz, but it's not the cost of the Ritz. What it is though is clean, comfortable, welcoming, well located, and most of all RECOMMENDED!We would return in a heartbeat if we visit Exeter again.Thank you to all that helped make our stay special.

My room was clean, perhaps a little small but perfectly adequate with good facilities.The location was convenient for the city centre.Staff were all very friendly, polite and helpful.Breakfast was excellent both days.I don't go to Exeter very often, but would happily stay at The Telstar again if I do.

My room was truly tiny but comfortable (and the shower was great). Breakfast was wonderful; I appreciated that I could get coffee starting at 7!

Ben and Amy have made this establishment a jewel in the crown of Exeters' accommodation services. From day 1 to last day, nothing was too much trouble for them. Their staff are the nicest, kindest, and most thoughtful people we have had the pleasure to meet. The hotel is an old fashioned type of house but the service was second to none. Even though my wife has mobility issues, the balcony overlooking the train station and surrounding countryside made up for the steps up to our room. We breakfasted every morning outside with room service provided, and got back to our room at night looking forward to a great nights sleep in a very comfortable bed.The only downsides to our stay was the lack of a lift, and the bathroom was a bit small.Thanks for a wonderful few days and next time we are in the south west we will be sure to call.Tommy and Noelle

I stopped at the Telestar for my daughter graduation ( at last) I was given room 20 and it was just the right size , nice bed , shower and the views were good of St David’s Hill, lovely historic church nearby, 8/9 minute walk into the city , same time 8/9 walk from the train station so ideal location. Breakfast was just right and lovely. I would recommend it and all of the staff were friendly and helpful .

Had a fun two night stay in the Telstar. It’s a guest house that oozes with quirky character and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. A picture of Basil Fawlty in the foyer sets the tone nicely! The staff were very friendly and the breakfasts were great too. A nod to their green intentions also, which should be applauded. I would definitely stay here again if returning to area.

I was just passing through Exeter, but I had a comfortable stay and a lovely breakfast which set me up for the day.

We stayed in room 10 double ensuite.Only negative is that it was small and hard to find space to leave open 2 carryon size suitcases. Otherwise nice with a private upper deck with a view at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was great and staff helpful. 10 minute walk to town center. Nearby Dinosaur cafe has great Turkish food.

My second time staying at the Telstar, both times in the bijou room 18. Cannot recommend this lovey hotel enough. Staff are so helpful and welcoming and the breakfast was up with the best I have ever encountered at a hotel ( special shoutoutfor the excellent butchers sausage). All for a bargain price. Will continue to use this gem for the next 2 years whilst visiting / dropping off / collecting my daughter from the University.

Staff were very nice. Rooms were nice and clean. The breakfasts in the morning were excellent. The only comment I would say is about sharing of the bathrooms with two other rooms not being ideal but they were perfect.

I completely understand and agree with the good reviews online. The staff were all very lovely and approachable. My room was compact, the decor slightly dated (but as advertised online) and comfortable. This all added to the charm of a staying in a Victorian building. I was a little apprehensive as I'd opted for a shared bathroom but it was clearly marked as designated for two specific rooms only and was clean and well managed. The location was perfect as it was a very short walk from the train station and it was a pity I didn't have more time to stay longer and also to explore the city

A great place for us and our dog to stay for five nights.The real bonus was having parking either on site or with a Residents Permit.Telstar is in easy walking distance for most of the places you would visit in Exeter.The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble.Keep it up everyone.

I booked a small room and stayed for three night. it was compact but comfortable and and clean containinghad a a small table and chair which was a tight fit but comfortable enough to do some writing on my PC. the shared bathroom was clean and there was plenty of hot water for a shower. The full English breakfast was good and the staff courteous and efficient. Also good value for the money.

Their instructions for late check-in were clear and easy to follow.Good night's sleep.They warned the room (16) was small, but it was well laid out and perfectly comfortable for one.Even had a balcony though I didn't have time to use it.Breakfast was excellent: generous, tasty, prompt, and with NO HORRID LITTLE DISPOSABLE PLASTIC CONTAINERS - well done.They were helpful about parking (alas I had to drive, though it's very handy for St David's station.)Telstar will be my first choice if I need to stay in Exeter again.

This was a first visit, picking up our daughter from the university at the end of term. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room on the top floor was quite small, with a very small bathroom, but comfortable (if a bit too warm). A delicious breakfast and a creative car parking arrangement to pack in about 8 cars. We would stay here again.

My fourth stay at the Telstar, still never had a bad experience. Staff attentive and eager, view from the back of the hotel is wonderful, food excellent, bedroom comfortable and well-appointed.

A gem of an establishment in Exeter. This small hotel is central, but quiet. The rooms are simply furnished with comfortable beds and scrupulously clean. The breakfast was good with the use of locally sourced items for the cooked breakfast.I will be returning.

I was welcomed at check-in on Sunday evening after a very short walk from the station. Very convenient location and friendly helpful staff. My room was cosy and pleasant, and spotlessly clean, though I could have done with a desk or dressing table with a socket to work at, and I could hear the traffic which I wasn't used to, but that inevitably goes with a city centre location! The breakfast was outstanding and set me up for the day. Every diet was catered for and the whole setup was environmentally conscious, particularly appreciated that plant based food was provided. Loved the decor and atmosphere of the place. I will definitely be back!

This is a very convenient location with a 5-minute walk from St David's train station and a 10-minute walk from the city centre and cathedral from up the hill. The bus stop for the university is also not too far either. All in all, this has been a very pleasant experience, especially between the two windstorms, Eunice and Franklin. We enjoyed a night's stay at the Telstar this weekend and found it great. A warm and helpful welcome, assisting us parking up before finding a warm, comfortable and clean room. Breakfast was very good, and the atmosphere and decor lovely and welcoming and cosy.Very good value and highly recommended!

In my 10 years of traveling for work room 10 at the telstar was by far the most comfortable place I've been to. Excellent and recommend.

As I stayed for 6 nights, I had booked a double room and am glad I did. I was given Room 19, a comfortable, quiet room at the back of the hotel. The location of Telstar is ideal for anyone using either Exeter St David's or Exeter Central stations. It is also convenient for the city centre and the stunning cathedral.Telstar is a nice, friendly hotel and good value. It is in a great location, has reasonable wi-fi and serves very nice breakfasts.

I loved this Hotel. The decour is very pretty and tasteful the rooms clean and large enough, the bathroom was also very nice. It was relatively quiet in the night also. Well located, comfortable guest house.On-site parking was full, so the staff kindly gave us a residents' permit for the adjacent streets where parking was easy to find even on a Friday evening.Good breakfast options.We have stayed before and would certainly stay again!

We stayed at the Telstar Guest House for 3 nights and was very impressed by all aspects of the hotel. The room was very comfortable and as a bonus had a proper record player and a number of records to go with it. The breakfast was very good with a decent selection of options, it could get a bit busy at peak times however that is to be expected as is with most places. Location was good, only a 10 minute walk to the city centre and 5 minutes to Exeter St Davids station. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

I stayed for 2 nights here. It is a very nice experience. The staff are very friendly and supportive. The breakfast is very good and the place is very clean. It is also close to the train station. I will strongly recommend this place to any traveller.

Large, comfortable, room situated at the back of the hotel away from the other rooms which suited me just fine. Accessed via some steep steps ( drinkers beware ) and a large balcony/terrace which I'm sure was for all guests but felt exclusively mine. Record player with records was an odd, but nice, touch.Good breakfast served by friendly, helpful staff.Hotel located between the 2 Exeter stations withba short walk to city centre, shops, cathedral, river etc

Booking was very easy, an informative email was sent to explain the parking arrangements. The facilities were clean, everything worked as it should, e.g the shower. Breakfast was very good and service was both friendly and helpful.

A warm townhouse welcome, fresh cafetiere coffee in my cosy, comfortable, clean room, delicious breakfasts, and a great position. Perfect for exploring Exeter on foot 5 mins from St Davids station to visit the Exe estuary and coastline. The Telstar is making every effort to minimise waste too.

Great place to stay, easy access from the station and asuper friendly welcome. Accommodated our baggage whist we explored Exeter the day after. The kids loved that it’s right friendly so met a few new furry friends at breakfast.

I have stayed here a couple of times as a single female traveller on university business. It's a really welcoming place, clean and a little quirky, but not, like, in-your-face quirky. The staff are really nice, there's a great breakfast, and there are small touches that make a big difference (like real coffee in the bedrooms - yes!). Really close to the university campus, too. Definitely my regular place to stay in Exeter.

Well located in the centre of Exeter. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room was equipped with everything to make travelling easy. Breakfast was excellent with dietary alterations accommodated without issue. Our dog was welcomed too, not just allowed. We will return soon.

Our room and en-suite would be described as compact, but we had a balcony and with the sun shining, we sat outside and took in the views of the city. Breakfast was spot on and the staff were all friendly and welcoming. The location is close to the city centre and there is the bonus of the free car parking at the rear of the building. We'll be back if we are ever in Exeter again.

We liked the decor very much, especially the tiles in the shower of room no 2.Telstar is within easy reach of the centre and the station. With an early flight to catch we just had a short downhill walk to catch the shuttle bus.

I stayed in room 17 for one night.The room was clean,comfortable and had a very good shower. Breakfast was fine and overall a very pleasant stay.

We stayed for two nights in room 19. The room was quite small but was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Check in and checkout was easy. Breakfast both days was delicious. I would highly recommend.

Stayed in one of the ground floor rooms at the Telstar. It has parking at the back and is in an ideal spot to access town or country, walking, cycling or in your car. You should aim to get a room on the upper floors if you can - the lower one we stayed in was a little noisy at times and the television and bathroom basic - also a damp smell in the bathroom was off putting when you first go in, but it dissipated after a while once the extractor fan had been on for a minute or so. The breakfasts were excellent and the staff cheerful, which raises the rating somewhat. These days finding a room in Exeter can be difficult, so all in all a reasonable stay.

Excellent service from very welcoming staff. The guest house is compact and the accommodation is comfortable and clean. Good value for money. The breakfast was wonderful and the hotel uses locally sourced foods.

Telstar is very clean and comfortable with a retro feel about it, due to the decor (intentional, not dated or scruffy). Staff are all very pleasant and helpful. Room well equipped and furnished ( ask for no 10, it has a private deck with great views).

My Daughter and myself were in Exeter settling grandson in to uni. We had a long journey from Chester the previous day and didn't have a good stay the night before in a previous hotel. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at The Telstar. The room had been tastefully decorated and all needs catered for. Also an excellent breakfast.We will stay again on our next visit to see "our student"

This is my second stay at Telstar and definitely recommend. Very welcoming and accommodating. I needed to change my booking a few days prior and bring it ahead a day and they did this for me with no hassle whatsoever.Parking is quite tricky and being full meant that I had to find space on the road, although I was provided with a permit. It took a little patience to find a space - but that is normal in Exeter.The room was clean and exactly as described. The bed was comfortable. I had a good night sleep and enjoyed the breakfast which was served by a very smiley, polite and lovely lady.

Room was very clean and tidy, with everything that we needed. The ensuite shower room though small was adequate with lovely hot water and soft towels.We were at the back of the property and overlooking the railway, however were very quiet.Staff were all charming and efficient. We had a very pleasant stay.

We came with our two 11 year old boys and 6 month old boxer puppy.The room was adequate for a one night stay as a family room, very clean and all the amenities needed for our short stay.The breakfast was an extra £10 for all four of us and it was brilliant, lovely choice and the staff really couldn’t be any more accommodating.Even our Bruiser had some sausage whilst he sat with us for breakfast.We absolutely will return here, if we stayed for a longer stay we would opt for the bigger room where boys had a bit more space but other than that no complaints from us, and a far better experience than what our friends had from another dog friendly establishment nearby.

We stayed here for one night in August with our dog on our way to Cornwall.Staff were very welcoming and helpful and the room and shared bathroom very clean.It is not luxurious and the room not large but perfectly comfortable and very convenient to walk into city centre.Also close to rail station.Breakfast was very good.

Friendly, Clean, Comfortable and conveniently placed for a short walk to the riverside pubs and eateries.We were only there for a stop over on the way South and had to leave very early the next day but will definitely be back for a proper stay in the future.

We were looking for central accommodation for one night that was dog friendly and had suitable rooms for our family (2 adults and 3 children) - we certainly found this at the Telstar.We felt really welcomed, rooms were really clean and the breakfast was great.Overall a really great stay and we would definitely return.

Was a nice comfortable safe place and had a nice vegetarian breakfast which came with the booking of the room. The bed was very comfortable and also had a nice shower. Had to attend a funeral over the 2-day stay and was a very worthwhile stay. I do recommend this place if you travel alone and want a safe place to stay. When I come back to the area again I will rebook. Always go in life where you are treated best is my Golden rule.

We somehow managed to drive right past the hotel but when I rang up to say we were lost, I was directed to the car park by a member of staff who even stood outside to wave us in. Really lovely staff, felt very safe and welcome here and nothing seemed too much trouble. Two ways to walk into town, we preferred going there via the road opposite but either way probably took 10 minutes. No noise from the hotel at night, never heard a thing. Would stay again.

the dining room and lounge areas at the Telstar are full on boutique hotel with details and quirks which set it apart as a boutique option.some of the accommodation could do with a refresh but I'm assuming they're gradually updating the decor room by room to come up to the standard of the common spaces.breakfast was perfect, staff cheerful and helpful - with a spruce up of those older rooms this will be a five star option for anyone wanting to be a few minutes walk from the centre of Exeter. we loved this place and would definitely book again if we are visiting the city again.

We arrived in a rush heading to a wedding and the staff at The Telstar could not have been more helpful and welcoming. They got us into the room a little earlier so we could be on time and even made us some last minute lunch! Really helped our trip be less stressful and the room and breakfast were great too. Would definitely stay again next time we're in Exeter.

Friendly staff and shared bathroom had another toilet next door, so never a queue and could have a shower before bed. Very hot as no air con or fan in easy access but perfect for normal temperatures.

We had booked to stay in the Annexe which meant we had two bedrooms, a bathroom and a garden to ourselves.It was very clean and welcoming.The breakfasts were lovely and filling.The only thing I would say is that there was a definite lack of storage space.We were only there for a couple of nights and barely had room to store our clothes so for anyone staying longer there would have been no hope.All-in-all a lovely hotel.I would not hesitate to stay again.

We usually stop in the centre of Exeter but fancied a change and so pleased we did. Lovely B&B with lots of personal touches from the fresh ground coffee in the rooms to the home made bread available for breakfast. The owners seem to have gone above and beyond what a standard B&B usually offers. We had the best nights sleep on the huge bed in room 2, which overlooks the courtyard, it was so peaceful and the bed linen was super soft. I even tried checking the mattress for a label to see what make it was! Had a selection of different teas, cafeteria and hot chocolate in the rooms and good quality complimentary shampoos etc too. Just a short walk into Exeter Town centre and there's a pub within a few minutes walk from the B&B if you don't fancy going into town in the evening. Unexpected find that we'll definitely be stopping at again when next visiting Exeter.

The Room we stayed in was clean and tidy and a great access point to getting to the centre. For one night it was perfect but if you are looking for more out of your stay I would recommend elsewhere. The amenities are fairly standard but the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was excellent.There was a slight key issue but the hotel staff were very quick to help remedy the situation.Overall, a great place to stay for one or two nights if you don't plan to spend too much time in your room.

We spent four comfortable nights at the Telstar in Exeter. The room was lovely, spacious and very clean. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was absolutely excellent. It is positioned perfectly for a visit to the city as it's a short walk to the train station and only a fifteen minute walk to the historic centre of Exeter. I would highly recommend the Telstar when visiting Exeter.

The Telstar is a very comfortable hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and made me feel at home. Breakfast was nutritious, delicious and filling, using locally sourced ingredients. It is near enough to town to walk in (15 minutes) and far enough out to feel restful. Had a lovely time there with my dog.

The Telstar is a short walk from Exeter St.David's railway station and well located for the City centre.I had a one night stay in room 21.Although small it was perfectly adequate for my needs with a comfy bed and nice shower.I would definitely recommend the Telstar and look forward to a return visit soon.

Our daughter is heading for uni in Exeter this year, so we visited the campus and looked around the town. The Telstar was an ideal place to stay. It is well located, the beds are comfy, breakfast is varied, staff are friendly and efficient and you can park for free.

I stayed here with my daughter to visit the university and can thoroughly recommend it. We were able to explore the city centre on foot within minutes in one direction and walk to the uni campus in 15/20 minutes the other direction.The hotel itself was comfortable and clean with lovely features such as a record player in the room and mis-matched lampshades etc.The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly.

Very good nights sleep on our return to The Telstar. Lovely bed linen and soft towels make for a relaxing get away. This is the second time we have chosen Telstar, both children went to Exeter University and is an ideal location for visiting - near to university and the town.

Lovely stay here. Fab location for central Exeter within a 11 minute walk. Incredibly comfortable bed and breakfast was fantastic! Full English and great service too! Thanks to you all ????

Visited Exeter to see son at the university. Needed somewhere affordable that accepted dogs and the Telstar was ideal. The free parking was a bonus. Excellent breakfast and room facilities, although the shower was, like many hotels, quite pathetic but adequate. Decent WiFi compensated. Staff all very helpful. Would recommend and stay here again.

The hotel is placed near the center and with a magic view over the city of Exeter. The staff are extremely friendly and polite. My room was very clean, tidy and well supplied with coffees tea, chocolate too. The hotel is very sweet has a nice breakfast area inside and outside too.The breakfast quality was excellent and the staff helpful and very efficient. Highly recommended and I will definitely come back

We had a brilliant night here on our way to Cornwall. The family room(s) were perfect for my husband and me and our three young childre. The people there were so friendly and helpful, everywhere clean and comfortable and the breakfast fresh and delicious. Thank you

I stayed at the Telstar for a week, very nice vegan breakfast choice, soya milk and tea and coffee. The staff are lovely, i really enjoyed my stay and am looking forward to going back in June

Hosts and staff were very friendly and helpful and room was clean and bright be it on the small side for double and single.Breakfast was good and prompt despite Covid restrictions and Covid guidelines followed with masks and sanitiser.Car park definitely a bit quirky but again staff helpful in allowing us to leave car there before/after official visit times and offering to move car if blocking someone else in. Will definitely stay there again.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff Sam, Magdalen, Beatrice and the rest were approachable, welcoming and helpful, all with smiles and a can do attitude. Over the weekend met the owners, Ben and Amy working alongside their team cooking and serving their delicious locally sourced food. Overall a really pleasant experience and will definitely be using this hotel again!!

Stayed one night whilst visiting our son at the Uni.Staff were very welcoming and friendly and quickly sorted our parking problem. The room was comfortable and clean with all the facilities you would expect.Breakfast was tasty and quickly served.We would happily stay there again!

The Telstar is friendly and a bit quirky. The breakfast is sensational, even though the darkening dial on the toaster could be turned up a notch or two!if you haven't got a small car, make use of the free permits and park up the road. The car park at the rear is challenging!

The room was comfortable with all the necessities provided (tea, coffee, hot choc, milk, body lotion, shower gel). The bed was comfortable. The tv had multiple channels to choose from and the breakfast was delicious and very generous portions. Thank you

I stay at the Telstar whenever I'm in Exeter, which is pretty frequently.I would recommend it to anyone. They do a terrific breakfast as well as having lovely cosy rooms.

The Telstar is close to the main Exeter College campus which made it perfect for my recent visit. My double room was cosy and the staff friendly. Overall a great value option.

I stayed one night at the Telstar on my way home from Cornwall, and I have nothing negative to say. The single room was perfect for me as a solo traveller and was comfortable and had everything I needed. The staff were all excellent and the location is perfect for exploring Exeter on foot.

What a lovely find the family room had two bedrooms all clean and tidy and the bathroom was lovely. Even had our own courtyard and chairs to sit on. Will definitely be back there again.

Nothing too much trouble, lovely breakfast. Also had evening meal from ‘Magda’s’ kitchen, huge portions and delicious, thanks to Covid I even had breakfast in my room (such luxury breakfast in bed) one day when I was feeling tired and lazy. Everything very clean , room very comfortable and a generous selection of tea/coffee/hot chocolate etc. Even a cafetière and real coffee. Parking a great bonus and on the days couldn’t fit into the car park (big van) was given a complementary daily permit. Will definitely book again in the future.

We booked a room for three for myself and 2 teenage children. We were given 2 rooms which were together and shared a little hallway behind our own private entrance door. We had our own bathroom. This arrangement was perfect for us.My bed was harder than I would like, but that is a personal preference. The bedding was lovely, fresh and cosy. We had booked breakfast. There was quite a wait for breakfast but the food was great. Lovely fresh fruit salad and cooked breakfast made to order. The parking behind the Guest house was very congested and was full when we arrived but we were given a residents permit to park on the street a short distance away which was fine. The University and the City centre were both within walking distance.

I would recommend this hotel for a short or long stay in Exeter. It’s a 10-15 mins walk in to the city centre and only a stones throw from The Imperial if you want a meal out that won’t break the bank!Great breakfast and comfortable room. Lovely people young and inviting!No complaints and see you again sometime!

We had a very nice stay at your lovely guest house. The decor in the lounge and the dining room was a pleasure to be surrounded by. The breakfast was probably one of the best we have had in a hotel environment. Staff were all very pleasant and attentive. The only slight issue we had was the shower room in our room was very small almost claustrophobic. I would, however, have no hesitation in recommending your guest house to others. If we stay in Exeter again I would make sure we asked for a room with a bigger bathroom and two bedrooms rather than three beds in one room. You also deal with the small car park extremely well. Thank you for our great one night stay.

Fabulous stay. Although the room wasn’t too big we had a lovely terrace overlooking the river which made life much easier with our large dog. Everyone at the hotel went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and each morning they gave our dog a sausage. We ended up staying an extra night.

As a family of three we were delighted to have a double room with a separate bedroom area for my son, all sharing a small but well appointed bathroom with a bath and a lovely toiletries. In the room we also had tea and coffee making facilities including a cafetiere and ground coffee. Much appreciated. Parking is very tight - narrow lane to get to the small 5 available spaces but we managed it. Good breakfast included in price. Enjoyed our stay

The room was very lovely, bed really comfortable, lovely view from the room we stayed in. Staff were polite and very friendly. Great with our puppy, gave her sausage every morning which she loved. Needed a location located near to both the University and the city centre. The Telstar Hotel ticked both boxes. Room 22 was both a cosy and comfortable 2 bedroom space that had the added bonus of a quaint garden to relax in, weather permitting. Great breakfast and helpful front desk topped off a pleasant, stress free stay.

The hotel was a clean and friendly place, the facilities were up to standard, breakfast was lovely. The room could of done with updating even though we had a comfortable nights sleep.

Accommodation surpassed my expectations. Bedroom so big and I slept so well. Would absolutely stay again. Loved the breakfast fresh fruit, prunes and natural yoghurt with a vegetarian cooked breakfast and proper wholemeal toast with no bits. It was wonderfully quiet with window overlooking the pretty courtyard.

A fabulous guest house that I would certainly visit again. Our family room exceeded expectations, it was spacious, very clean and stylish, with a small garden directly outside which was great for our dog. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was superb with an excellent choice on the menu. I would definitely recommend a stay here.

Having been a little surprised by the small size of my attic room (not represented by any of the publicity photos), it was adequate and comfortable for a single person on a one night stop-over.Staff at check-in and breakfast were all very pleasant and accommodating and the breakfast was very satisfying in pleasant surroundings.10 mins walk from the station, so, overall, perfect for a quick business trip.

Really pleased with our stay at the Telstar guest house, beds were comfortable and the en-suite although small was very functional. Breakfast was generous and lots of options to suit all tastes. Would have liked more information about the car park before arrival but apart from that everything worked very well.

The best thing about the guest house for me is the staff who were all friendly and thoughtful. They really care that you're OK. The guest house itself is quite an interesting style, I liked the colourful tiled shared bathroom. My room was a single room and an adequate size, with everything I needed for a comfy night's stay. The toiletries are nice and in in bottles which I assume can be refilled. I think they are making an effort to be environmentally friendly. There was a good choice of breakfast with fresh fruit salad and natural yoghurt as well as traditional cooked breakfasts and continental options. Apparently on some days there is home made bread. They cater for different diets too. This is part of their overall considerate attitude. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star is that for me to have a perfect stay I'd like very good coffee in the morning. They have filter coffee but it's in a big metal urn, so it's old style B and B coffee. They had a lot of guests though, and had to cook breakfasts individually so I guess individual cafetieres or a coffee machine would be impractical. So I'd recommend staying here then getting a good coffee in town.

Our arrival was delayed by train cancellations, but we received a warm welcome at the Telstar. The guesthouse is conveniently situated near Exeter St Davids station, and just 10 minutes walk from the city centre. Our room was fairly small for our family of 4, but adequate for the couple of days we stayed. Breakfast was fantastic, with a great choice of cereals, pastries, and full English. All the staff were very friendly, and we would happily stay here again.

From the warm and efficient welcome, including booking a taxi for me to venture out into Storm Dennis, to the clean, comfortable and cosy room with great views over the Exe Valley I thoroughly recommend this Hotel.The breakfast was excellent and little touches like the record player and extensive selection of condiments reflect an attention to detail that enhances the experience for guests. Stayed overnight after a work function to save driving home.Check-in was quick and painless, and the en suite room, while quite small, had everything I needed for a good stay.It was quite quiet considering the location at the rear of the hotel overlooking the station, and I had the window open all night without any disturbances.Breakfast was one of the best I've had in recent years - there would be no excuse to start the day hungry, as all preferences were catered for.All in all I'd recommend this as a great place to stay if visiting Exeter for sight-seeing or short business trips.The University is about a 15-minute walk (uphill, steepish in parts!), and the town centre about 10 (more flat).Daytime parking is a bit limited in the immediate area, but evenings are OK, and if you're arriving by train then you really couldn't do much better than the Telstar, especially at the price.

We appreciated this lovely well-run hotel.We had dinner and breakfast there and both were good, with careful attention from the staff.Checking in and out was smooth, and everyone very helpful.Rooms clean and well equipped with thoughtful touches.Parking is free and in the back and most suitable for smaller vehicles.There are stairs and one should be careful arriving after dark as lights in back will not illuminate the whole parking area (and won't stay on very long).Would stay here again.

The B&B is well located near teansport and the city. We had the tripple room. The beds were nice and comfy and the wifi worked well. One of the plug sockets were broken and the duster had missed a couple of spots. However, the breakfast was excellent value and we enjoyed a lovely Hungarian evening meal.We would stay again.

Came back to visit my daughter at university having stayed here with her last year when she was looking at which university to apply to.Another great stay and excellent breakfast. Great choice including vegetarian, vegan & gluten free.I will be staying here again.(The only thing I would change - but this doesn't detract from my five stars - is their choice of vegetarian sausage - I think they use the Quorn brand and there are much better ones on the market now - Cauldron are my favourite).

The room and rest of the Hotel was very clean. It is situated close to the two main Stations in Exeter with Easy access for the City Centre ( Cathedral, Museum, Exeter University, Parks etc ). The Staff were all very friendly, and helpful. We were travelling with two small children and two dogs and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast was very nice, there is free parking at the rear of the Hotel (making the price of the stay excellent value). I would not hesitate to book here again.

We enjoyed our stay at The Telstar. It was an easy walk from St David’s train station on a quiet street. Our room was a nice size and although the hotel was full we didn’t hear any noise from nearby rooms. The breakfast was one of the best with locally sourced eggs and accompaniments. The staff were all very kind and helpful.

What a lovely place to stay! Our room was quite small, but impeccably clean and with a beautifully tiled bathroom. Excellent service, we had a few requests which were all met - which made us feel right at home. We would definitely stay again.

Perfectly situated between Exeter St David's railway station at the Ton Centre, the Telstar Guest House is a convenient location. Both its breakfast and evening meals were excellent. Happy to use when next in Exeter.

A compact but spotlessly clean and well thought out ensuite attic room did the job perfectly for my one night stay in Exeter. Just wish I'd had time to do the very good breakfast justice! Would definitely stay again.

Great decor, lovely breakfast and a comfortable room. I was in a small single, and it really is tiny. As a larger person I had too squeeze myself into the shower and the bathroom, but I didn't mind for the excellent price. Just something to keep in mind, though. Nice busy breakfast room.

Only complaint is about the breakfast. 9:00 is defintiely too early to finish. After that time we did not get anything.

We just stayed one night for a music festival. The B&B was very cute, comfortable, and served a nice breakfast. The location next to the station was great.

We only spent one night but would like to have stayed longer. The room was comfortable and quirky and had everything we needed in it. We even had a lovely verandah which was great as we had our dog with us. The choice of breakfast was very good and catered for gluten free vegan and vegetarian diets. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Will definately stay again.

We, 4 adults enjoyed our stay but were disappointed that we were not able to watch TVs in our bedrooms with subtitles as we all are deaf

We really enjoyed our stay at Telstar! The room was cramped with four beds but that wasn't really a problem because of the lovely living room. One guest recommended the food cooked at the place and we happily accepted: as we wanted to try everything on the menu ( decent, good Polish cuisine) the very skilled and friendly chef made nice little dishes so everyone could have everything. The city centre is within walking distance, we clearly recommend a stay at Telstar!

In a lovely location near to the town centre and the university. Rooms were on the smaller side but clean and well furnished. There was a tea and coffee tray as well as complimentary toiletries. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Free parking is a tight squeeze but hosts were able sort out a space for us. I would look to stay here again if coming to Exeter as good value for money.

The Telstar was nicely decorated, clean & comfortable, the staff were friendly & very helpful. They understood & catered for the two coeliacs in our group & welcomed our dog, giving her breakfast too! We were close to the uni where we were attending an Open Day. The only down side was that one of our rooms was at the front on a main thoroughfare so was quite noisy with windows open, but I'm sure it would be fine in cooler weather with the windows shut

Another lovely stay at the Telstar. Wonderful friendly hosts, good breakfast, comfortable room, very convenient location and a great sitting room to chill out in. Had dinner on Saturday night, delicious.

Friendly breakfast in a open clean and well-lit setting. Began with choice of coffee or tea, juice, fruit, cereal and then were able to order an “English Breakfast” or some version of the breakfast including an omelet.We did not communicate our need to leave early one day and were offered breakfast sandwiches to go.Wi-Fi good throughout the house and in the outside sitting area.Rooms small but we large enough to handle our two big suitcases.Loved the sound of the outside water fountain through our open window.Shared bathrooms clean and available.10 minute walk from train station.Older building so it creaks but so do I and with age comes depth.

I've stayed at the Telstar a number of times iver the last 2 years and it's my first choice every time. An eclectic, original hotel with a wide range of room types. Breakfasts are well done, staff are friendly, lounge is loveky to sit in at any time and the location is great.

The Telstar was decorated in a charming, whimsical way. Our room was comfortable, cleanand the WIFI signal was excellent. Breakfast was made to order with a full English breakfastor variations to suit each guest. We traveled by train and found the location very convent. The staff were cordial.

Beautiful hotel, room was stunning, including the record player which unfortunately we didnt get to use. Close enough to the University for us to walk to the concert and back. Breakfast was delicious with such a large choice! Will definitely stay again if in the area for another concert.

Nice friendly welcome, helpful staff. Quirky but clean rooms, well supplied with drink making facilities. Really good breakfast for all appetites. I would recommend to stay here if in Exeter, as convenient for both the station and city centre, good value.

Lovely guest house in a good location. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable with a good selection of teas and a cafetière with ground coffee. The breakfast was great with a big selection of cereals to choose from, fresh fruit salad, not the tinned variety a lot of places serve and options for those wanting a vegetarian or vegan cooked breakfast. I was also really pleased to read that products for breakfast are sourced locally where possible. Overall a very pleasant stay and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again in the future or to recommend it to others.

The room and bathroom are very basic, which is ok for a one night stay. The hosts are very friendly and attentie. The breakfast is excellent. The price is, related to quality and comfort ok. Location is perfect when you travel by train.

We enjoyed our stay at the Telstar while in Exeter for a family wedding. The rooms were unique and charming but a little tight. We appreciate their green stance. The breakfast was delicious especially the homemade bread of the day. The staff was very friendly and helpful.Overall we were delighted with our Telstar experience.

The stay was comfortable. The only minor issues were that there was some noise from passing trains and it would have been nice to have a shelf in the bathroom for putting toiletries on.

A very enjoyable stay staff were very friendly breakfast was lovely and the room was very clean and certainly warm. Only critism was the parking where someone had parked so close I couldn't get in and dogs running through the breakfast area wasnt ideal otherwise the stay was very good.

The Telstar was central to the city, safe and had a very clean room with a good shower, bed and tea/coffee etc. It felt more like being in a house with its lovely original Victorian features and friendly service. Magdalena's Polish inspired menu is absolutely fantastic and gets an extra star from me! It was comforting to have the option to eat in, especially if it gets late, or you are on your own. I highly recommend The Telstar to anyone exploring the area for a few days, or as an overnight stay.

The Telstar Guest House was in a good location for walking into Exeter city centre. Free off-road parking, comfortable rooms with a great breakfast.The breakfast was good quality sausages & bacon and the homemade apricot & fennel bread was a winner for us. Thank you for a great stay.

We stayed at the Telstar for a weekend whilst attending a conference at the university. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable. The view from the balcony outside our room was amazing and the quirky retro style was charming. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. A really good stay.

Pleasantstay , excellent staff, good breakfast. The room was quite small, as well as the bathroom, nevertheless clean and tidy.

Lovely place to stay. Rooms were very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The full English breakfast was very good and there was a good choice of cereals and juices. My only criticism would be the that the shower in our ensuite was very low pressure, I would have struggled to wash my hair with it, however, it would not put me off staying there again.

This was the second time we have stayed at the Telstar. Once again we could not fault anything. Our room no 10 was clean and tidy, nicely decorated wit a great view from the balcony. Breakfast was excellent with home made bread lovely. The staff as always were spot on very helpfull and friendly. On the whole an ideal place just a short walk into the city centre. We will definitely stay there again.

We had a great stay at the Telstar. It has a really nice relaxed atmosphere; original, stylish interior; delicious breakfast; staff are delightful and accommodating - we were able to check in early. Off-street parking is a real plus too as it's an easy 10 min walk into town or to the university.

Nice clean tidy accomodation. The room we had was at the front of the building but was still very quiet with very little traffic noise. Convenient for the city centre and would recommend highly.

The hotel was a perfect location for visiting the university. We were able to walk everywhere which was great as we were able to bring our dog. The staff are very helpful & friendly. The parking is very awkward but the staff try to find solutions and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was really nice, even giving my dog a sausage.Really nice place.

I needed a reasonably priced, single room that was near the station and near where my son lives. This was all of these and was also welcoming, clean and well run. The breakfast was lovely, particularly the home made bread.

I had a single room, which was small but very cozy and spotless clean. I felt very welcoming. The breakfast was very good with fresh fruit and a large omelet. I recommend the Telstar.

For me a wonderful introduction to Exeter.Ideally placed near the station with train/busconnections with the SWCP and the international airport. A cosy and charming hotel at a stone's throw from St. David's train station and the centre of the city, with extremely friendly and hospitable staff. There was an old record player in my room, which put a smile on my face together with the nice view from the terrace.

The Telstar Guest House is clean, comfortable and convenient for the City centre. The staff are welcoming and friendly, and the breakfast is superb. There are some issues: parking is restricted, and anyone with limited mobility could find access difficult from the car-park. The hotel is a converted house, nicely done, but the tiny en-suite in our bedroom was a little challenging as I am 6ft and 16 stone!

This was possibly the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in, but it was only for one night. The room was cozy and clean and provided everything I needed. Friendly staff and good location.

We stayed here to attend a wedding about half an hours drive away with a newborn and two older children, the staff were friendly and accommodating and went out of their way to provide everything we needed. The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was lovely and the service was great. They even called us late Saturday night to tell us alternative Parking as the car park was full and we were due to be late back. Amazing service and would definitely stay here again. 100% recommend to others

I always enjoy staying at the Telstar because it is truly individual, totally unlike anywhere else. Some of the rooms are a little on the 'compact' side, granted, but everything is scrupulously clean, the beds are super-comfortable and they have a sensible eco-policy. Add a wide-ranging and generous breakfast and it has everything I need when I'm away from home.

This was a perfect place to stay for our daughter's graduation. The room was at the back, it was very quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was great. The staff were so helpful with parking and we could leave our bags to collect later.It is very central and so you can walk everywhere. It's also close to the station. We have been visitors to Exeter many times in the past 6 years, but this was the probably the most ideal place we have stayed as it delivered on all fronts. Thanks.

Welcomed with a warm welcome by young lady at reception. Room very comfortable and well appointed. Very good breakfast once again withwarm welcome from staff. Have stayed here before several years ago and no hesitation of staying in the future. Car park a bit of a squeeze but lots of hotels don't have car park arrangements so Telstar's is a bit of a bonus.

We were warmly welcomed and very well attended to throughout our brief stay. Breakfast was lovely, cinnamon and raisin bread was delicious! Very close to the university for us and a quick skip from the city centre. Thank you for looking after us so well.

Stayed at the Telstar for our daughter's Graduation , we had the family room Gradwhich had 2 separate bedrooms and our own entrance . The breakfast was very good and offers plenty of variety . Considering what some of the chain hotels charge during Graduation weekthe Telstar offers great value for money, would definitely recommend to friends and the decor is fun too!

We loved our stay at the telstar, having just arrived in the UK after a 34hour flight and 3 hour drive it was the perfect place to relax. Our rooms were combined with own bathroom and private entrance and garden. Loved the decor and how friendly everyone was.

We stayed for 2 nights this July. The staff were all very pleasant, friendly, helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Parking, down a narrow alleyway to the rear, was a bit tight, but manageable. Bringing in cases from the car was through a maze of covered areas and steps. The Telstar is about a 10 minute walk from the centre of the city. The H bus also runs that way.

I love staying here when I'm in Exeter.Nothing like the big chain hotels, each unique room is well kitted out and very comfortable.The en suite bathrooms may not be the biggest, but they're spotless and perfectly adequate for a short stay.And, most importantly, the breakfast is excellent!

Conveniently located between the station and the city, this town house has been sympathetically renovated with some cute retro touches. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable, the lounge and courtyard garden are nice touches and the WiFi works! Staff are friendly and welcoming and the breakfast is excellent. As with all older properties there are creaky floorboards and you occasionally hear people in other rooms. But if I stayed again I would ask for a room at the back as the road outside is very noisy.

Stayed overnight with our two teenagers prior to visiting the university. Triple room actually a double room plus a single, off their own little lobby. Rooms not enormous but clean and comfortable, perfect for a short stay and convenient for Exeter St David's railway station. Very nice breakfast. Good value for money

We were mother and daughter, andhad a pleasant stay. The room was v comfortable, though we didn't sleep very well as there was a light on outside all nightwhich kept me awake. Breakfast was very good, and staff were very amenable. I found stairs a bit of a problem as I was there with a damaged spine and had to attend Exeter hospital.

Great location and very obliging owners, letting us leave car in car park before check-in. Room small but adequate, plumbing a little noisy! Room next door left switched bathroom fan and light on and left it on all night which disturbed our sleep, but obviously this is not your fault! However, breakfast was excellent ....really tasty and good quality and lots of it! Making this a truly good value for money guest house. Thanks a lot.

I needed somewhere to stay in Exeter after a long day and evening.The staff were very friendly and the room had everything I needed. After checking in early afternoon to drop off my bags, I didn't return until after midnight, but had no problem getting access.Breakfast was tasty, and quickly served.A very reasonable price, and I was wanting for nothing. I would recommend and stay again.

Lovely B&B with helpful, friendly staff. Quirky and unique. My room was small but good value for money and perfectly functionable (appreciated the fresh ground coffee). Great cooked breakfast, but request for small portion wasn't followed so unfortunately I couldn't eat all of it. Recommend as a great stop over for a night or two in Exeter, would definitely return.

Stayed at The Telstar for one night on a shopping trip to Exeter with my mum and sister. Ideal location was just a 10 minute walk into the the main city centre. Was greeted by friendly helpful staff who showed us promptly to our room which was clean, comfortable and just what we needed for our short stay. We were really impressed by the breakfast, good selection and quality of produce and brilliant service throughout- nothing was too much trouble.We will definitely be returning here the next time we take a shopping trip to Exeter. The b&b exceeded my expectations. I met four friends they and we stayed in the family room and triple room. Both rooms were cleans and good sizes. The unexpected bonus with the triple room was that one of the beds was in its own separate room, making sleeping arrangements a lot easier.Breakfast was of a good quality and plentiful.Good value for money.
